Actually Free Stuff

I get so annoyed when I see a “FREE” listing only to find it isn’t really free, there is a shipping and handling fees involved.  Well, honey, that’s not free, is it?  I have taken it upon myself to put together a few listings of things that ARE absolutely free.  For the next few weeks I will be posting places and sites where you can actually get FREE things.  As long as you follow the terms and time limits, there is no cost beside your time in browsing.  Enjoy.

If you have suggestions to add to my free stuff list, please let me know on my Facebook page: Denise’s Dancing Paintbrush.

There are lots of times I could use just the right photo and really haven’t the time or equipment to go out and take it myself.  That’s where stock photos come in.  Usually you have to buy them from stock photo sites but there are a few places you get royalty-free photos for free.  And I know because I am a contributor to some of these sites.  The picture below is just one piece of artwork I have contributed to iStock that you could buy to use.

For the low, low price (free) of membership, each week you can download a free royalty-free stock photo from iStock photo.  Also each month they allow a free download of one iStock sound track, one iStock movie clip, one iStock vector illustration and a free iStock editorial image that can be used with certain restrictions.  You do not have a choice of which image you may take, but can only download the free image of the week.  However these are very professional images and I find after a year of downloading free weekly images that I have plenty of cool photos to choose from for future use.

Now, just so you know, I have paid for small subscriptions with iStock and I have never been denied the free download each week.  Sometimes I wonder if, like Dreamstime, I would be denied free downloads after a certain number without buying that subscription.  If you find this to be true, I would love to hear about it.  Leave me a comment so I can update for future readers.

This is the first of a series.  I will be adding more free stuff next week.
