Painting Pink Jubilee Roses in Watercolor, Speed Painting

These roses make me happy.  I remember my dad loved roses and encouraged my mom to plant plenty of them all around the house.  His favorite was Heart's Desire but I'm loving these Pink Jubilee roses.

Painting Watercolor Botanicals, Waxwing and Apples

These botanicals are so much fun to paint but I made the mistake of using student grade paper and it buckled a little.

My Neighbor’s Girl in Collage

Sometimes it means a lot to just work on art for art's sake.  To do a portrait because you want to and not because it is a commission or for a book.  I loved working on this portrait of the girl next door.

Painting Watercolor Botanicals, Chickadees and Grapes

Here is another speed painting in watercolor of a botanical with birds and fruit.  This time little chickadees and grapes.  What fun.  I love the play of the colors: bright yellow next to blues and purples.

Putting A Collage Background on This Collage Illustration

As I have finished the second Alphabet book and am working on the last edit, I noticed that I have quite a few illustrations for these books that would make fine stand-alone art pieces if I finished the background.  So this one is the illustration I did for Kiigbo Kiigba with a jungle background.  I really like how it turned out.  I think I will enter it in the next art show and see if anyone else likes it.

Zomo the Rabbit, A West African Folk Tale Collage

Here it is.  The end of the second alphabet book.  Almost a full year in the process and I'm putting it together for publication on Lulu later this month.  I'm really happy about it and already looking at the next book.

Trouble When You Are Young, A Portuguese Fairy Tale Collage

I really enjoyed this fairy tale.  Which would you choose if you had to: trouble when you are young or trouble when you are old?

Painting Watercolor Botanicals, Tufted Titmouse and Nectarines

This is the fourth and last of the botanical paintings I did for my client.  She was very happy with the results in the end.  She sent me a Christmas present that was very sweet and unexpected.  Some people are a joy to work for.
